A family-friendly event for all ages, featuring original blues music by Ronnie V, Bottle of Blue & the Family Band, and Tomi Isobe’s Blues Band. There will be unique vendors, delicious BBQ and more.

Hawaiian music featuring the Hawai’i County Band with kahiko hula by kumu Etua Lopes’ Na Pua U`i O Hawai`i hula halau on the at 4 p.m., presented by the Daughters of Hawai`i. Bring beach mats or chairs.
August TBA, 2018 – ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF ALOHA –
From: 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel, South Kohala.
Hotel guests, visitors and residents are invited to enjoy a free family-friendly all-day festival to be held at Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel. The event will feature live music from multi Na Hoku Hanohano Award winners including the Pandanus Club, Raiatea Helm, Ekolu Mea Nui, and seven-time award winners the Mana’o Company, hula performances, craft, jewelry, and clothing vendors.
Appearance by the Royal Court, food booths featuring Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel Executive Chef Peter Abarcar Jr.’s famous Hawaiian plates, which includes huli huli pig, fresh catch poke with haupia for dessert, and specialty foods from the chefs of Mauna Kea Beach Resort.
The event will benefit various non-profit organizations. Attendees are encouraged to bring canned foods to support the Hawai’i Island Food Basket.
August 25, 2018 – Great Waikoloa Canoe Race

August 25, 2018 – Hawaiian Sunset Saturday

This once a month community event celebrates Kona’s spectacular sunsets with live Hawaiian music and hula on the lawn at Coconut Grove Marketplace starting at 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm every last Saturday of every month.
Everyone’s invited to bring beach chairs, blankets and enjoy beautiful live Hawaiian music and hula while the sun is setting. When the music is over, enjoy a stroll on Alii Drive, and check out the many food venues and shops.
August TBA, 2018 – North Hawai’i Hospice Floating Lantern Ceremony
Sun. 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM, Free, Fairmont Orchid
A meaningful ceremony to honor and remember loved ones that have passed. There will be a sharing of music and hula, Taiko drummers, chanting, and prayers, followed by a lantern release into Pauoa Bay at sunset.Floating lanterns for decorating and inscribing messages will be provided for a donation (pre-reservation of lanterns is suggested since supply is limited). Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Complimentary self-parking will be provided by The Fairmont Orchid.

Time: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center, Hilo. Free to the public.
Come out for a day of celebrating Hawai’i’s beloved ‘ohi’a tree! This family-friendly event will feature hula, talks, demonstrations, music, crafts and activities focused on ‘ohi’a. The event will also raise awareness about Rapid ‘Ohi’a Death.

Annual Queen Lili’uokalani Long Distance Outrigger Canoe Races
The 2018 Queen Lili`uokalani Long Distance Outrigger Canoe Races welcomes more than 2,500 outrigger canoe paddlers to Kona for its signature 18-mile long distance race, the world’s largest long distance outrigger canoe race. Kai `Opua Canoe Club, one of Hawaii’s oldest outrigger canoe clubs, will host crews from Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Peru, Tahiti, United Kingdom and an estimated 75 crews from the US.
Other official Race events unfold throughout the holiday weekend including Historic Kailua Village Cultural Walk, Paddling Talk Story, Native Artist Fair, Torchlight Parade, Stand-up Paddleboard Race, Ali`i Challenge and, new this year, Hulakai OC4 (4 person canoes) Sprint Relay Race.
