* 5-night minimum stay is required
for our Hawaii Big Island vacation rentals throughout the year except the Christmas/new year period when the minimum is 7 nights. We will, however, fill gaps of fewer nights at full rates on request when we can, so please ask us and we'll do what we can. However, fewer nights may incur a small one-time cleaning fee.
* Between 50% and 100% deposit required at time
of reservation depending on how much time in advance you reserve and the length of your stay. We accept personal
checks made out to Aloha Vacation Cottages, LLC, P.O.Box 6294, Kamuela, HI 96743. Guests from abroad will
be informed about payment options. Balance is due 60 days prior the date of arrival.
* We may ask you for a security deposit of $100 in cash at check-in, which will be refunded in full when you check-out providing no damage to the property has occurred. Please be prepared.
* 60-day cancellation notice before the date of your arrival required
for a 90% refund (the 10% of the total retained is a cancellation fee).
* We maintain a smoke-free environment
within our Hawaii vacation rentals.

Mauna Kea Summit
Harper Car and Truck Rental is the only vehicle company on the
island that allows 4 wheel drive rentals to be driven on Route
200 (the Saddle Road) and up to the top of Mauna Kea —
elevation: 13,800 feet (!) or into Waipio Valley
or to Green Sands Beach at South Point.

Assuming you have prepared
for your trip to Hawaii for a long time. Your accommodations with
us are booked. You paid your deposit and tickets are
bought. Unexpected things can happen within the allowed
cancellation notice prior to arrival whether it’s a personal
accident or something happens to a family member. A good way to protect
yourself against loss of money in such an incident is by having travel insurance.
Check your existing insurance policies and credit card coverage before
you buy travel insurance. You may already be covered for lost luggage,
cancelled tickets, or medical expenses. However, it will probably
not cover your expenses for private lodging like an individual vacation
rental. The cost of travel insurance varies widely mostly between
5 – 8% of the total cost of your vacation. Trip-cancellation
insurance helps you get your money back if you have to back out of
a trip or if you have to go home early. Allowed reasons for cancellation
can range from sickness to natural disasters. Be aware that insurers
usually won't cover vague fears. Insurance policy details vary; so
make sure you read the fine print. Find more detailed information

Most health insurance policies cover you if you get sick when on vacation
but check, particularly if you're insured with an HMO. For additional

On domestic flights, checked baggage is covered up to $2,500 per ticketed
passenger. For our vacation rental guests from Germany or from abroad,
on international flights (including U.S. portions of international
trips), baggage is limited to approximately $9.07 per pound, up to
approximately $635 per checked bag. If your valuable items, which
you intend to check in, exceed this limit, make sure that they are
covered by your homeowner's policy. You may also get luggage coverage
as part of your comprehensive travel-insurance. If your luggage is
lost, immediately file a lost-luggage claim at the airport, listing
the luggage contents. For most airlines, you must report delayed,
damaged, or lost baggage within 4 hours of arrival. Don't worry when
your luggage has not arrived with you at your arrival in Hawaii, the
airlines are required to deliver luggage, directly to your vacation
destination free of charge. So far, on the rare occasions that our
vacation rental guests' luggage did not arrive with their flight,
the airlines always delivered it the next day.
