Wow! What a wonderful time we had. After long days of exploring this beautiful island, we looked forward each day to coming back to our peaceful little cottage. What a wonderful little house [Hale Kea Cottage]. But, we now have to leave this beautiful little home-away-from home. Your attention to making sure we had everything we could possibly need to make us feel at home was remarkable. It has been especially helpful since I fell on my second day. I couldn't have asked for a better place to recoup. (I loved the recliner chair...it's very helpful for back injuries.) We especially appreciated all the beach gear. We spent today, the final day here, on the beach, one last time. This was our first time to the beautiful Big Island. So much to do and see -- and you are located to make it all accessible! We waited a long time to get here and this was a wonderful stay ....all what we expected and hoped for. The Hale Kea cottage was like home for us. All was quality and very comfortable. Your fresh picked bananas from the garden and your home-made vanilla mac-nut ice cream was so good. We would love to return here and hope to see you again.

Not a long enough stay! Next time, we'll know better [to stay longer]. Your place is stocked thoroughly with all kinds of special treats from the beach gear galore, to the lovely little bath soaps and such a well-stocked kitchen. The tea kettle was there but the only little thing we missed was a teapot...can you tell we're Canadian, ay? We also appreciated the cleanliness of the place. We assumed that Hawaii would be nice…but we must say that we were impressed with how much of it is pristine coastline…and so clean. We really appreciated the wonderful beaches on the Kohala Coast in your area. Now, having that coastline treasure just minutes from our lovely cottage was more than we ever expected. It was convenient located to everything we wanted to do. From the hiking trails to the deserted gorgeous beach spots, we found the peace we wanted away from the commercial fray. We enjoyed living in Hale Kea Cottage very much. It was peaceful and quiet. We got the best nights sleeping here. Thank you for all you did to make it feel like “our home”. We’ve rented places before but never one that was so well thought out to meet everyone’s comfort. Your homemade mac-nut ice cream was a very nice touch indeed…as was the fresh fruit and the fresh baked malasada buns (they were still warm). We used your Big Island guidelines for us in the cottage every day and we are certain that we would have missed out on many special places without it. We’re not big on eating fish at home but we have to admit that the fish you guided us on was fabulous….and with the recipes from the cottage kitchen, we ate beautiful Hawaii fish in the best restaurant on the Big Island….at our own BBQ on the deck.

Three weeks was not enough for this island. We will miss this cottage and the beautiful area. There's so much to do and explore here. We swam. We hiked. We ate luscious fresh fish from the sea to off the BBQ. We napped on the lanai. We are relaxed and feel transformed. Thank you for the peace.

We had 5 glorious weeks here split between the two cottages. We felt at home right away. We explored the Big Island all around. The insider information you provided was very much appreciated. The place was always nice to come home to every day after a good day out. Once in a while it was also real nice to stay home and enjoy the place which is very comfortable and relaxing. We had everything here. The cottages are located in one of the most pleasant areas on this island. The climate is dry and warm but not stuffy or humid. The nights are cool for sleeping well. We loved going into Waimea town which was easy to reach to shop and experience the local culture. It's just a beautiful place. The beaches down the road are the most outstanding on the island -- especially our favorite Mauna Kea beach. Thank you for everything you did to make our stay memorable.

The cottage was perfectly stocked, the location could not be better for seeing the entire island, and the hosts are most helpful. The weather was comfortable, if not outstanding, during our 10 days on the island. A cloudy day [in May] at the Mauna Kea beach is still warmer than a spring day in Oregon. We stayed here in the Hale Kea Cottage for the second time now (2007 & 2009) and really regret that we have to leave this cozy "home away from home". We again felt very welcome here and always were looking forward to "coming home" to this place after our daily excursions around the island. We also appreciated the daily updates about the hurricane "Felicia" spooking around in the ocean, which finally and fortunately degraded to not more than some rain clouds ...and therefore didn't bother our vacation. We had a really wonderful time here [for 15 days]! We had lots of adventures like going to the volcano (we saw lava coming down), exploring lava tubes, deep sea fishing and also your beautiful beaches. We stayed in the Hale Kea Cottage for two wonderful weeks and are looking forward to coming back here again. We felt at home from the very beginning when we were welcomed warmly by our hosts. We made good use of all the equipment especially the lunch box and ice packs and we certainly also benefited from your handy *personal* vacation guide you are writing. We missed nothing in our cottage and even had more than what we were expecting. Not to forget to mention the exciting time watching long fingers of new lava flow come down from the volcano at the park, swimming with eagle rays and sea turtles at one of the beaches near the cottage...and the excellent weather we had.

Our first time visit here staying at the Hale Kea Cottage is simply fantastic. We can't believe what a wonderful accommodation this is. Your website does not do justice. And, the location is super. Temperatures are comfortably warm by day...cool by night for sleeping. The place is close to everything. We love it here. The place is so comfortable, the area so peaceful that we really could easily hang out here all day. You have a little treasure here in paradise. Because of your attention to detail, you have made our stay here one to remember. We loved staying out here, close to Waimea shopping and culture, yet away from the hustle and bustle of Kona and Hilo …with all that comes with high traffic tourist areas. Yet, we felt very accessible to both towns, as well as other places…with just a very scenic drive which was a treat in itself. Most memorable to us was the trip out to visit the volcano national park to experience Kilauea and walk right out to where the lava covered the roadway. Truly an awesome sight to behold and experience. We wish you two the very best in your lives here on the Big Island . We will see you again. Unheard of... everything is here: beach chairs, coolers, body boards, mats, kayaks, beach towels, sun hats, tote bags, music & film on cds and dvds, and the kitchen has everything!! Thank you for a warm welcome and a wonderful stay in Hale Plumeria Cottage. This was our first week as newly weds and it was the perfect place! It has much more character than boring old hotels and condos. So private and quiet here. We also really appreciated the little touches in the cottage. And, having boogie boards, snorkle gear, beach towels, ice boxes, beach chairs, was just great....even you're filling the fridge with breakfast groceries for our (late night) arrival was much appreciated.
