What a welcome to Hawaii! Our first trip to these beautiful islands and we were lucky enough to land here at your place! Your generosity began before we even left Seattle by providing a very “last minute” rental car service …and the river of generosity just kept flowing our entire stay here. Hi guys, just another note to say we now realize how really special your place is. Volcano was great but the high surf all week scotched our snorkelling plans. And we found out that Kona really hasn’t got the beaches or sun of [South] Kohala. So we will be back to enjoy the beaches, do some riding and actually get in some snorkelling. And probably opt to stay in one place [yours] for the whole time. Your cottage may become a habit. Next time hopefully March 2012.

We absolutely and thoroughly enjoyed your Hale Plumeria accommodation….especially the sunny deck! All the beach equipment and picnic supplies were put to good use. We are very grateful for your careful planning and well-thought out kitchen and bath pantries with herbs and other condiments, as well as the wonderful bed, abundant linens (towels galore, nice bathrobes & kimonos, cushy slippers….which we used all of)…and nice toiletries. You went the extra mile to include good makeup remover pads and portable Shiatsu Massage machine --- came in handy for sore spots after the long hikes. And, your island…. Thank you for all you did to prepare us for a great visit to the Big Island.

Our visit here has been fantastic. We’ve kind of broken the fun barrier! Diving – night + day – with Manta Rays, turtles, and our favorite – Lauwiliwilinukunuku’oi’oi [fish]. And, all the while hearing whale song under the water! Our bird watching was great, too – Kalij Pheasants, Apapane, and the elusive Elepaio. Your guest accommodations have been surperb with every detail thought of – we’ve been so well supplied in the kitchen, etc. Honestly, we’ve stayed at many vrbo [vacation rental by owner] places across the country and by far yours is the best appointed – the details make the difference!
We’re sure we’ll see you again as we continue to seek our next home here on the Big Island.

Thank you for the wonderful Hawaii hospitality. We had a wonderful, but all too brief, stay. The saying, “so much to do and so little time to do it” must have been with the Big Island in mind. We have managed an impressive number of the ‘must do’ activities: Captain Cook monument (essential as Aussies), sun set at the top of Mauna Kea Volcano, helicopter over flowing lava, spectacular Tropical Botanic Gardens and of course snorkeling. No time for lounging around to just relax and enjoy the comforts of this beautiful cottage (Hale Kea). Silly us – you did suggest we stay longer during your very helpful emails prior to our arrival….like so many of the people who have written in your guest book, we will just have to come back! Thank you for your attention to detail that ensures this accommodation has everything needed for holiday away from home. We hope to have your visit to Australia where we can return the hospitality.

We loved our stay at the cottage [Hale Kea], with everything supplied for an easy vacation. We have explored most of the beaches in the bigger area, Hapuna Beach being our favourite. We also went out on little hikes, etc. and befriended the new owner at Daniel's. As you can tell we did not sit still but enjoyed our time there. We would love to come back! No question this is a positive experience: What a wonderful, well run, clean, very pretty, comfortable, affordable, well located, vacation rental. We have stayed in both units and they both are so enjoyable. Every thing one could possibly need is in each cottage. The location is very close to supermarkets, beaches, and many beautiful locations. The sunsets are so enjoyable. The quide books in the cottages guide one through "must see/do" experiences. There is no question that these cottages are a great choice! The surroundings are beautiful with plants and birds. This was a dream come true for us. Not located in a rainy area and the water is great!

What a wonderful little house [Hale Kea Cottage]. But, we now have to leave this beautiful little home-away-from home. Your attention to making sure we had everything we could possibly need to make us feel at home was remarkable. It has been especially helpful since I fell on my second day. I couldn't have asked for a better place to recoup. (I loved the recliner chair...it's very helpful for back injuries.) We especially appreciated all the beach gear. Your place is stocked thoroughly with all kinds of special treats from the beach gear galore, to the lovely little bath soaps and such a well-stocked kitchen. We assumed that Hawaii would be nice…but we must say that we were impressed with how much of it is pristine coastline…and so clean. We really appreciated the wonderful beaches on the Kohala Coast in your area. Now, having that coastline treasure just minutes from our lovely cottage was more than we ever expected. It was convenient located to everything we wanted to do. From the hiking trails to the deserted gorgeous beach spots, we found the peace we wanted away from the commercial fray. We enjoyed living in Hale Kea Cottage very much. It was peaceful and quiet. We got the best nights sleeping here. Thank you for all you did to make it feel like “our home”. We’ve rented places before but never one that was so well thought out to meet everyone’s comfort. Your homemade mac-nut ice cream was a very nice touch indeed…as was the fresh fruit and the fresh baked malasada buns (they were still warm). We used your Big Island guidelines for us in the cottage every day and we are certain that we would have missed out on many special places without it. We’re not big on eating fish at home but we have to admit that the fish you guided us on was fabulous….and with the recipes from the cottage kitchen, we ate beautiful Hawaii fish in the best restaurant on the Big Island….at our own BBQ on the deck.

Yes, we had a wonderful time on the Big Island. We enjoyed our stay and some of the best places we only found with the help of your home guide. We very much appreciate the way you provided us with information. If it was Disney Channel, a book about lei making or information for our last day in Los Angeles - your information made things easy. We didn´t miss anything in the cottage, the kitchen was very well equipped and we can´t imagine how we could have come along without the cooler box. We hope to come back to hawaii for a longer stay.

My husband and I were very happy with our cottage Hale Kea. We had a great location near the beautiful coast with so many wonderful beaches and places we could easily get to. We saw the whole island. The house was very clean and very comfortable….decorated nicely. We slept so well. All was as promised. And the help you gave us before we arrived to plan was really important for us. And then, when we arrived to get your “holo” guide, we knew immediately how to get the most out of the island with all the places you suggested, the nature experiences, walking trails, markets, shopping. We would never have known which fish to buy…or how to prepare it without your guide. We have to say the vanilla mac-nut ice cream you made was a wonderful unexpected treat in the freezer We don’t know if we’ll ever get back to Hawaii but this experience will stay with us as one of the best holidays we have every had. We spent 10 nights in Hale Kea and it was just great. The place is pretty and well organized. Everything was provided for us. After a day, it felt like we lived in Hawaii. The hosts have the best tips on places to go…even where to buy fresh caught fish and grass fed beed. The kitchen was better equipped than our own. It’s a quiet place where we slept deep and well. The weather was always warm. The nights exploded with stars. And, as beach lovers, we had the most gorgeous coastline only minutes away. We really had the relaxation we wanted. Thanks to the hosts…and the beautiful Big Island for helping us have the vacation we needed.

The Big Island was so exhausting – in the best possible way. We snorkeled, walked the trails and even took a fishing trip. But, now that we have to leave, we feel completely relaxed…and sad to go. Thank you for helping us with “things to do” all prepared for us. The fishing charter you pointed out to us was not only the most affordable for our budget but we were allowed to keep our catch which made for a great dinner on the BBQ. The Plumeria unit was a little home for us that we enjoyed. The deck was our place for “eating out”. It was our 15th wedding anniversary – and this trip was actually a honeymoon we never were able to have.

Our stay on the Big Island was wonderful! Hale Kea had all the things and comfort we needed…and then some! We had 5 glorious weeks here split between the two cottages. We felt at home right away. We explored the Big Island all around. The insider information you provided was very much appreciated. The place was always nice to come home to every day after a good day out. Once in a while it was also real nice to stay home and enjoy the place which is very comfortable and relaxing. We had everything here. The cottages are located in one of the most pleasant areas on this island. The climate is dry and warm but not stuffy or humid. The nights are cool for sleeping well. We loved going into Waimea town which was easy to reach to shop and experience the local culture. It's just a beautiful place. The beaches down the road are the most outstanding on the island -- especially our favorite Mauna Kea beach. Thank you for everything you did to make our stay memorable.

The cottage was perfectly stocked, the location could not be better for seeing the entire island, and the hosts are most helpful. The weather was comfortable, if not outstanding, during our 10 days on the island. A cloudy day [in May] at the Mauna Kea beach is still warmer than a spring day in Oregon. We stayed here in the Hale Kea Cottage for the second time now (2007 & 2009) and really regret that we have to leave this cozy "home away from home". We again felt very welcome here and always were looking forward to "coming home" to this place after our daily excursions around the island. We also appreciated the daily updates about the hurricane "Felicia" spooking around in the ocean, which finally and fortunately degraded to not more than some rain clouds ...and therefore didn't bother our vacation. We enjoyed this week here very much and hense say...

We had a really wonderful time here [for 15 days]! We had lots of adventures like going to the volcano (we saw lava coming down), exploring lava tubes, deep sea fishing and also your beautiful beaches. All the water sport equipment you have for us and sand toys [for the children] came in very handy! To bad we have to leave!!

We stayed in the Hale Kea Cottage for two wonderful weeks and are looking forward to coming back here again. We felt at home from the very beginning when we were welcomed warmly by our hosts. We made good use of all the equipment especially the lunch box and ice packs and we certainly also benefited from your handy *personal* vacation guide you are writing. We missed nothing in our cottage and even had more than what we were expecting. Not to forget to mention the exciting time watching long fingers of new lava flow come down from the volcano at the park, swimming with eagle rays and sea turtles at one of the beaches near the cottage...and the excellent weather we had.

Our first time visit here staying at the Hale Kea Cottage is simply fantastic. We can't believe what a wonderful accommodation this is. Your website does not do justice. And, the location is super. Temperatures are comfortably warm by day...cool by night for sleeping. The place is close to everything. We love it here. The place is so comfortable, the area so peaceful that we really could easily hang out here all day. But then, we wouldn't have had so much fun exploring the entire island...which was easy to do from here. You now have 2 more regular guests. Thank you for everything you do. See you again. Hale Plumeria Cottage was perfect for us. We enjoyed ourselves so much here. And, the island is beautiful, interesting, relaxing and so much fun. We travel a lot and this place was among the best to visit. What beaches on the Kohala Coast! Super. And, they're so easy to get to from your place. We especially loved Makalawena Beach. We're on our way to Maui and we hope it will be as wonderful and adventurous as the Big Island. We'd love to return here and when we do, we'd stay at your place again. Aloha. Pat and I loved this vacation in Hawaii. Hale Kea Cottage was such a comfortable place to stay. Thank you for all the thoughtful extras like the beach cooler, beach chairs, the big beach towels and tote bags along with the restaurant and activity suggestions. We greatly appreciated your insider tips! The whale watching was wonderful. Memorable meals: Ocean Sushi, Tropical Dreams ice cream, Big Jake's BBQ, Bite Me fish tacos...and we also loved your local fish market and the produce stand down the road. Next time we will watch the fire works on New Year's Eve instead of falling asleep! Continued success, happiness and health.

We had a marvelous vacation on Big Island thanks to our hosts. The hospitality, information, and beach gear you loaned all contributed hugely to it.
