A Tahitian and Hawaiian Cultural Festival with dance, cultural arts, drumming, carving and weaving. The festival will have performances, an arts and crafts fair, drumming classes and delicious food booths. Also drawings for prizes!

Time: 10am to 4:00pm Wed-Friday; 10am-6pm Saturday at Makai Sports Fields behind the Kona Aquatic Pool (75-5560 Kuakini Hwy., Kailua Kona).

The 2018 Kona Coffee Cultural Festival celebrates the 48th anniversary of Hawaii’s oldest food and coffee festival with 10 days which combines a modern-day infatuation with coffee with Kona’s old-world history as visitors, residents, artisans and farmers gather together to salute Hawaii’s preeminent coffee.

Kona coffee farm tours, Native Hawaiian arts and culture events. A celebration of cultural diversity all blended together honoring nearly 200 years of Kona coffee history.

From 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm

The Kona Coffee Cultural Festival Lantern Parade winds its way through Historic Kailua Village (Alii Drive) with its glowing procession of light, music and color that culminates with an evening bon dance at Hale Halawai.

November TBA, 2018 – Holualoa Village Coffee Tasting and Art Stroll – Kona

From 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

The Coffee Stroll is an annual event of the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival. Coffee from over 30 coffee farms will be featured in the little artist colony of Holualoa. Enjoy the unique art galleries and shops. There will be live music and more.

November TBA, 2018, Ho’okupu Hulano Ka’u Cultural Festival – Pahala, Ka’u

Held from 10am to 8pm at Pahala Community Center.

Hula, music, crafts, food, cultural practioners, cultural demonstrations and workshops.

Featured musicians are the fabulous Raiatea Helm, Wailau Ryder, Steven Sioloa, Keaiwa, Kaleo Maoli and more. Also featured will be hula groups from O’ahu, Hawai’i island, Okinawa, Japan, Mexico and the mainland.

November TBA, 2018, Annual Hawai’i Island Veterans Day Parade – Hilo

This year’s parade will kick off at 10 am in downtown Hilo with a helicopter orchid drop near Pauahi Street in Wailoa State Park, and lead off with Hilo’s own motorcycle version of Rolling Thunder. Three parade marshals will be honored in 2016: The Grand Marshal (a Veteran), the Community Parade Marshal (Veteran Support Group), and the Business Parade Marshal (new this year). Parade units will include active military; veterans organizations; ROTC units from local high schools; marching bands and other fun musical groups; military equipment; local businesses; civic clubs; community and children’s groups; and much more.

The parade route follows the same route as the Merrie Monarch Festival Parade.

November TBA, 2018 – Astroday At Kona Commons!

Observatories from Maunakea and Haleakala will be represented, as well as other technology, education, and cultural organizations. Highlights include Starlab–a portable planetarium provided by the Canada France Hawaii and Gemini observatories, solar viewing with experienced astronomers, robotic demos, educational games and toys, and many hands-on activities.

Time: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at former Sports Authority space at Kona Commons, Kailua-Kona.

November TBA, 2018 – Hula Kahiko At Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park

Hula featuring Kumu Ha’amauliola Aiona with Ke Kula o Nawahiokalan’opu’u PCS performed in a one-of-a-kind outdoor setting at the kahua hula (platform) in Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park.

Time: 10:30-11:30 am. This performance is rain or shine without electronic amplification.

Audience members are encouraged to bring sun/rain gear and sitting mats. This free event is supported in part by a grant from the Hawai’i Tourism Authority and the County of Hawai’i Dept. of Research and Development.

This once a month community event celebrates Kona’s spectacular sunsets with live Hawaiian music and hula on the lawn at Coconut Grove Marketplace starting at 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm every last Saturday of every month.

Everyone’s invited to bring beach chairs, blankets and enjoy beautiful live Hawaiian music and hula while the sun is setting.  When the music is over, enjoy a stroll on Alii Drive, and check out the many food venues and shops.

November TBA, 2018 – Volcano Village Artists Hui Annual Art Studio Tour & Sale

Over the Thanksgiving weekend visitors are invited to meet the Volcano Village Artists in their studios and see artworks in a wide variety of media. Pottery; raku masks; hand blown art glass; wood & metal sculpture; hand-tooled metal and fiber art; as well as photographs; paintings; drawings and block prints will be on display and available for purchase.

A special drawing for pieces contributed by the artists will be held on the last day of the event. Maps to the artists’ studios will be available at local businesses in Volcano Village, as well as at www. VolcanoVillageArtistsHui.com.
